Jodi Sta. Maria Says, ‘Find True Love: Adopt! Don’t Shop’
Actor Jodi Sta. Maria has teamed up with PETA in a series of heartwarming ad campaigns to encourage everyone to spay or neuter their animal companions and always adopt—never shop. Her costars are Marimar and Taho, a senior dog and kitten, both rescued by PETA, who have now found loving homes. The stunning ads were shot by photographer Wesley Villarica, with hair by stylist Lei Talaue, makeup by Lala Flores, and wardrobe styled by Mervin Lazaro.
Jodi’s Heartfelt Plea
In the video, Sta. Maria delivers a heartwarming testimony about her experience with rescued animals and delivers an important message to her fans.
“Adopting my cat, Naia, has brought so much joy and love into my life,” says Sta. Maria. “I’m happy to partner with my friends at PETA to encourage everyone to adopt their companion animals from shelters, never buy them from pet stores or breeders, and always spay or neuter so that fewer kittens and puppies are born into homelessness.”
PETA’s Sky-High Digital Messages
The ad blitz will appear 100 times a day across Manila at six locations for the next two months, courtesy of Strongmedia Advertising Solutions, which provided the ad space to PETA for free in support of the campaign.
The Reality of Animal Suffering in the Philippines
At any time, around 12 million dogs and cats in the Philippines are homeless. Many were born on the streets, whereas others were abandoned by their human guardians. Dogs and cats who are forced to live outdoors struggle to survive and may be hit by cars, infected with diseases, or hurt by cruel people—and allowing them to reproduce makes the homeless-animal crisis far worse.
PETA’s Ampon Alaga program holds free spay/neuter clinics in underserved communities, promotes the adoption of native dogs and cats, rescues animals in need, and finds them loving homes.
Ready to Adopt or Foster?
Sta. Maria’s message is clear: By adopting animals as she has, we give them the love, care, and homes they deserve. Rescuing a dog or cat, rather than shopping for them, is the compassionate choice.
