Cara G says, ‘Save the Planet—Go Vegetarian’
Supermodel Cara G stars in a new advertisement for PETA urging viewers to “go vegetarian” and “save the planet.” The ad is being released for Earth Day in order to drive home the environmental impact of a vegetarian diet.
Cara is a true friend to animals and to PETA, having previously appeared in a PETA anti-fur ad and recently retweeting our Chinese fur farm investigation messages on Weibo. As a vegetarian, Cara knows how meatless dining is kinder to animals, our health, and the Earth.
The leading cause of climate change might be on your dinner plate. A recent United Nations report concluded that a global shift toward a vegan diet is necessary to combat the worst effects of climate change.
In Central America, two-thirds of the rain forests have been cleared to make way for cattle ranches while, at the same time, the world’s livestock account for 15 to 25 percent of overall global methane emissions—and methane is 24 times more potent a greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide is.
Many leading environmental organizations—including the National Audubon Society, the Worldwatch Institute, the Sierra Club, the Union of Concerned Scientists, and even Al Gore’s Live Earth—have recognized that raising animals for food damages the environment more than just about anything else that we do. Whether it’s the overuse of resources, climate change, massive water and air pollution, or soil erosion, raising animals for food is wreaking havoc on the Earth.
The most effective step you can take to save the planet is to join Cara G in going vegetarian—take the Pledge to Go Vegan now!
