Spay/Neuter and Special Projects Manager

Position Objective:

  • To coordinate the organization’s projects that aid companion animals, primarily spay/neuter efforts but also including emergency responses, rescues, and adoption drives

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

  • Coordinate and lead all aspects of PETA’s spay/neuter efforts, including meeting with government officials and organizing projects in conjunction with them, advocating that guardians should have their animals spayed or neutered, and transporting animals for surgery
  • Coordinate and manage other staff and volunteers for PETA’s spay/neuter field clinics as well as for other projects, as needed
  • Assist with disaster response and other field projects, as needed
  • Verify reports of animals in distress or danger by traveling to locations and coordinate responses, rescues, and/or medical care
  • Provide animals in the organization’s custody with care, including walking dogs, feeding animals, cleaning up after them, providing medication, and giving medicated baths
  • Record and log reports and photos, including expenses, and submit them in a timely manner
  • Organize, clean, and maintain transport carriers and other supplies, including leashes and harnesses, humane cat traps, towels, medical supplies, and food and water bowls, as needed
  • Order animal supplies and prepare supplies for the organization’s projects
  • Manage the organization’s spay/neuter hotline and create reservation systems for field clinics
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications

  • At least two years of relevant managerial experience
  • Experience with handling animals
  • Physically fit and able to lift and carry at least 15 kilograms unaided (The role involves outdoor work in all weather conditions.)
  • Outgoing and personable manner with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of spay/neuter procedures and their benefits
  • Excellent time-management skills and ability to multitask
  • Fluency in both English and Tagalog
  • Demonstrated ability to handle stress, including in crisis situations
  • Highly responsible, punctual, and reliable
  • Ability and willingness to follow instructions carefully
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion at all times
  • Ability and willingness to respond to emergencies outside office hours and on weekends as well as work at field clinics and care for animals on weekends
  • Knowledge of animal rights issues
  • Support for PETA’s philosophy
  • Adherence to a vegan lifestyle
  • Commitment to the objectives of the organization
