PETA Asia Takes Shocking Exhibit to Chinese Colleges

Posted on by Ashley Fruno

PETA Asia has just launched a groundbreaking new exhibit, the first of its kind in China. The display, called “Animals ≠ Entertainment,” has just hit People’s University of China, Communication University of China, and University of Science and Technology Beijing and will be touring other schools and festivals across the country throughout the rest of the year.

In China, there’s growing opposition to the use of animals for entertainment. Animals in circuses and zoos are denied everything that is natural and important to them. Everything that surrounds them is controlled and manipulated by humans. They cannot choose their food, mates, or friends. Animals perform because they are beaten into submission and are constantly threatened with physical punishment. Bullhooks, shackles, and whips are tools used to force animals to obey their handlers.

Here is just a glimpse of PETA’s eye-catching exhibit. The inside of this circus-like tent displays the fantastic attributes of animals, their sad lives in captivity, and a shocking video composed of footage from zoos in China. Students receive leaflets and temporary tattoo stickers when they follow PETA’s social networking channels.

Many students are thrilled to learn more about animal rights and how to speak up for them. After watching the video, most students told us that they would share what they saw with their friends and family and would never support any entertainment industry that uses animals.
